Delighted Fabric Launch Party!!!

I may {or may not be!} three months late with this post, but it is what it is! Some of you may know that I was in Utah in October for The Quilted Fish's Delighted Fabric Launch Party, and let me tell you, it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! :)

Every table in the room was decorated with the utmost attention to detail!

Mr. Fish (Amanda's sweet husband) built this doll house for the party, and let me tell you it was a HIT! The Delighted fabric was Mod Podged onto the wood, and then carefully assembled per the instructions.

Here is a look at the inside of the house. All of the furnishings were made by Jana! :)

Fun and fashionable Dress Form Mannequin Pin Cushions, made using DIY Dish's tutorial.

This was my 'home away from home' for the night! The party featured two make-and-takes, one being a dog tag fabric necklace, and the other a bottle cap pincushion (which Jana manned). Behind the table are also projects made by some of the The Quilted Fish's Design Team!

Each window displayed a sweet vignette of collections and handmade goodies featuring the Delighted fabric.

This is Jana and I together (one of the only photos I have of us from our week together!). I'm so thankful that I was able to be in Utah for the party, and that I had the opportunity to spend the time I did with both Amanda and Jana. I am one lucky girl to be able to call them both friends, and better yet Besties! ;)

Handmade Christmas Gifts

I've always dreamed of a 100% handmade Christmas. What about you? Hopefully one of these days I'll get there, but until then I have two Christmas gifts to share with you! First up is the fun doughnut quilt I made for my Grandma B.! (It makes me hungry just looking at it!). :)

I used Threaded Pear Studio's Modern Day Diamonds quilt pattern. I absolutely love the simple design and size of the finished quilt. I'll admit that matching the diamonds was a bit tedious, but towards the end I came up with a couple fail proof shortcuts, which eliminated a lot of seam ripping!

The back has a fun doughnut stripe along the bottom.

The next handmade gift I have to share is this quirky mustache pillow, which I made for my friend Thomas. Mustache home decor is hot right now, so I figured who wouldn't want a pillow with an appliqued leather mustache on it?

I used Free Spirit's Designer Houndstooth fabric, in Hot House Blue, for the pillow. The leather was a scrap I had laying around.

I also used a scrap piece of coordinating brown Moda fabric for the zipper cover!

This pillow marks the first time I ever worked with leather, with that being said I think the applique looks awesome!

The "Up" House

Remember when I went to Utah in October to hang out with Amanda and Jana, as well as attend the Delighted fabric launch party (blog post to follow shortly!)? Well, we also got to go to the "Up" house, as a local Utah construction company built a replica of house (from Disney's "Up" movie) in Herriman, Utah.

The attention to details is what makes this house so spectacular!

Quilt Market- Day 2 + 3

I know I'm a week or two late, but I wanted to share a couple of photos from my adventures at Quilt Market (Sunday and Monday)!

My Momma and I spent time in Basic Grey's booth admiring their fun fabric and craft supplies. Do you see all of those buttons and flowers on the wall- love!!! :)

I also love their wall art, made from fabric buttons, and an assortment of embellishments. I may need a canvas for my sewing studio! :)

I'm always excited to see the fabrics and samples that Echino displays at Market. Not to mention that I think I need to make one of their sweet zippered/gusseted pouches (I love the yellow, green, and blue pouch!). I just may have to treat myself to some of their fabric at Sample Spree in May (Kansas City, MO)!

Remember when I told you that my goal on Sunday was to track down Ty Pennington (after spotting him on Saturday)!?! Well unfortunately he and his body guard (I still giggle over the fact that he had a body guard at Quilt Market!) were only at Market for one day, so I have no photo to show- bummer! I did take a couple photos of his booth, which will hopefully tie you over until next year's market.

I love his wall of ties. So simple, but definitely an eye catcher!

Speaking of men, David Butler (Amy Butler's husband) debuted Parson Gray at Quilt Market! Be sure to keep an eye out for his first line, Curious Nature, as I know I will (I'm loving the grays and blues!).

Moda's designer booth was fantastic! I absolutely fell in love with Summersville (left portion of the photo) by Lucie Summers. It could probably go without mentioning, but the right portion of the photo highlights Kate Spain's Good Fortune fabric line. I love the beautiful play of oranges and purples!

I absolutely fell in love with the custom upholstered chairs. I really think I need to get my hands on a chair from the thrift store, and invest in fabric, as custom chairs are SO fun! The theme for the Moda designer's booth this go around was 'Made With Love'...does that sound familiar!?! :) My Momma and I were chatting with one of the Moda employees and mentioned that my blog's name was Made With Love. Long story short she stuffed a sweet Made With Love pillow (the rectangular pillow in the photo above, next to the sewing machine) into my bag! So fun!!! :)

Quilt Shop of YOUR Dreams

Hi Friends! I owe you Quilt Market Recaps of Days 2 and 3, but haven't had a chance to sort through my photos. Do you mind if we have a bit of an intermission, where you let me pick your brain? (Sounds fun- eh?)

I know the characteristics of what makes my favorite local quilt shop my favorite, although it has recently closed- boo! I was hoping that today ALL of you would be willing to share what makes your local quilt shop your favorite, via a comment or two!

Is it the fabric selection? The kind staff? The super cool owner? The selection of embellishments? The location? The variety of classes offered? Do they offer longarm quilting services? Do they have a customer appreciation program? Many thanks!!! :)

Quilt Market- Day 1

Day #1 at Quilt Market was such a whirlwind. Let me start with the fact that I didn't wear the most comfortable shoes, which makes for a long day, that and I had to say goodbye to my sweet friend Brooke. I hate goodbyes (I usually cry like a baby, but I kept myself together today!).

Today was full of eye-candy, inspiration, and fun conversations. Although I don't use too much ribbon, I have a weird want/obsession with ribbon and trims in general. With that, the May Arts booth so much fun to explore!

Abbey Lane Quilts has a new quilt book out with five different applique quilts and five different quilt blocks. I love the idea of mixing and matching to create a unique and personal style. I may have to think about this idea the next time I sit down to write another pattern! :)

I absolutely fell in love with the purples, greens, and oranges displayed in Sandi Henderson's booth. Not to mention the sweet rosette pillows and the re-covered vintage umbrella!

Amy Butler's booth was spectacular, just as I expected! I was excited to see her new fabric line, Lark, in person as I love the mix of the bright colors, along side more traditional colors. As always, Amy never disappoints! :)

I also stopped by the Adornit booth to visit with my sweet friends that I met at The Sewing Summit! I may have mentioned it a time or two, as gray is my new FAVORITE color, thus I loved everything about Adornit's booth! I also got a sneak peek at their fabric lines that will be coming out next, and can't wait to get my hands on their new fabric. :)

I just about fell head over heels for Woodland by Natalie Lymer for Lecien! I love the sweet girls, the gnome-like houses, and the scattered mushroom. I also love the pajama pants (gray, yellow, and pink)...I think I might NEED a pair of my own!

Kellie Wulfsohn of Don't Look Now is an amazing applique artist! Her booth was full of beautiful and bright quilts, pillows, and wall hangings, all of which are applique designs. I have her Peak Hour pattern and hope to whip up a pillow for a friend's son. If I get the pillow done, I'll be sure to blog about it! :)

Quilt Market- Sample Spree

Hi Friends! I'm in Houston for Quilt Market and wanted to share a couple highlights of Friday, which included Sample Spree!

The day started with a nice stroll through Hobby Lobby, and I have to say that I am SO happy that they opened semi-local stores in California!!! I can't wait to do some serious craft shopping when I get home! :)

Here's a look at our drive in to Houston...nice, eh?

Sample Spree is a two hour frenzy, that starts at 8pm. Our goal was to get in line at 5pm, however our planned errands didn't take as long as expected, and traffic was very cooperative, so we (my momma and I) actually got in line at 4pm (crazy, I know!). See the yellow arrow? That's us, about 8 people or so from the front of the line!

I have to say that the highlight of Friday was meeting sweet Brooke in person! I've only known Brooke for a short time (via emails and her blog), but I am absolutely smitten with her! She is so genuine, gracious, and kind...I am truly blessed to have her in my life!

Back to the craziness of Sample Spree! There were three lines to get in the door. Here is a view of one of the lines (it might be hard to decipher, but there were A LOT of ladies in line!!!).

I didn't get any photos of Sample Spree, once the doors were open, as frankly I forgot. Its quite an intense experience, and I needed to focus. :) I picked up fat quarters from Anthology, yard cuts from Art Gallery, three spools of large ric rac, and fat quarters from Adornit + Bernatex + Henry Glass + Andover (Meet the Gang and Outfoxed).

My Momma also picked up some fun stuff! An Adornit table runner kit, Mod Tod fat quarter bundle, 10" stackers of Sunny Happy Skies, fat quarters from Anthology, fat quarters from Bernatex + + Moda (Good Fortune by Kate Spain) + Henry Glass + Andornit.

Here's a photo of all of the loot in our small carry-on suitcase- HA! I can't wait to get home and play with my sewing machine! :) What fabrics are you excited to get your hands on?

The Sewing Summit Recap- Part 2!

I'm so glad you returned for Part 2! :) Saturday was a busy day! My first session, Documenting Your Creativity: Blogging and Social Media, was with Dana Bolyard of Old Red Barn Co. Dana started the session with this video on the Social Media Revolution. If you have time I would suggest watching it, as its definitely an eye opener.

I had no idea that there were over 200,000,000 blogs. With that being said, I am absolutely humbled and grateful for each one of you that visit my little blog!

Interesting and engaging content. (I may achieve this on a good day)
Post new content regularly. (Before I get any emails...I'm working on this one!!!)

My second session, Photographing Your Creations: Simple Changes for Maximum Impact, was with Vanessa Christenson of Vand Co. I have to say that Vanessa is so sweet in person, in fact exactly what I had imagined her to be. I saw her in May at Quilt Market, but was too nervous to go up to say hello!

Vanessa's session included helpful tips on discovering your style, lighting dos and don'ts, getting to know your camera, and setting up the shot. Oh, and I should probably mention that I hauled my big ol' DSLR camera to Utah and never used it! I really need to find myself a Photography 101 class- ASAP!

I was very much looking forward to Vanessa's class, as photos are everything on Etsy! I was lucky enough to have talented help with my sewing pattern covers, but when it comes to Etsy I'm flying solo (which is scary!). Here's to hoping that I can implement Vanessa's ideas and come out on top! PS- I also LOVE this graphic that Vanessa shared with the class. I'll ever pass up a cheat sheet! :)

My third session, Creative Fabric Selection: Moving Beyond Fabric Collections, was with Jeni Baker of In Color Order. I was particularly looking forward to this class, as although I think I'm competent when it comes to selecting fabrics, I also know that I rarely take chances. I'm always too afraid of wasting fabric (sad, I know!). Here are a couple examples of Jeni's work.

The class focused on the color wheel (warm & cool colors, analogous color scheme, harmonizing color scheme, complementary color scheme, split complementary color scheme, triadic color scheme), fabric (color, accents, scale, pattern, value/saturation, basics), inspiration (photographs, surroundings, fabric).

Oooh, and have I mentioned that at the end of class, Jeni announced that Robert Kaufman donated Kona color cards for everyone in the class!?! I think I about peed my pants! I've always admired the Kona solids, but my local quilt shops never carried a large variety, and ordering a solid online is a bit scary, as colors tend to be distorted on a computer screen. Now I can reference the Kona color card, and order my fabric online with confidence! :)

The last session of the day, Modern Machine Applique: Skills You Need for a Variety of Projects, was with Natalia Bonner of Piece N Quilt. In a nutshell, Natalia's applique technique (using easily accessible supplies) is as follows:

Heavily starch the back of the fabric (background fabric and applique fabric).
Cut applique shape.
Glue applique shape to background fabric with glue stick.
Applique.

The starching process helps to prevent the fabric from fraying, and gluing the applique fabric to the background fabric, means that there is no need for pesty pins! Natalia brought along some samples of her work, and I have to say that I absolutely fell in love with these flowers. Looks at the pleated petals!

Out of curiosity, what do you enjoy sewing most- quilts, crafts, or garments. (The Sewing Summit proved to have a nice mix of quilters, crafters, and seamstresses!)

The Sewing Summit Recap- Part 1!

I spent four days in beautiful Salt Lake City, Utah, and am now home snuggling with Stuart (I missed him SO much!).
My weekend extravaganza started early Friday morning. My sweet Momma dropped me off at the airport at 5:20 am (which means I was up at 4 am- oy vey!). I flew into Las Vegas, had an hour or so layover, and then was on my way to my final destination.

I was tempted to play during my layover, but decided not to waste any of my fabric money! :)

On the ground in Salt Lake City. Hmmm...do you see ALL of that snow on the mountains!?! Let's just say that this CA girl froze most of the weekend!

Before arriving at the airport I had plans to meet up with Darci and Becky, as we were all flying in about the same time. Once I landed I received a text message from Becky, and we were shortly thereafter all united. I was so happy to share a cab with these sweet girls, as I had horrible anxiety about going to The Sewing Summit solo. We arrived at the airport and were lucky enough to check-in early.

After I settled into my room, Becky and I headed into the heart of downtown for some lunch. We then continued on our journey and spent some time walking around The Gateway. Speaking of grabbing lunch, I went to pay for my sandwich only to realize that I had left my wallet in my carry on, which was in my hotel room. Thankfully my new sweet friend was more than willing to lend me money for lunch (oy- I'm still embarrassed about my forgetfulness!).

Friday night The Sewing Summit held a welcome reception at the hotel, with drinks and appetizers. I'm not very good and mingling, but I did the best that I could. Friday night Becky and I were invited to dinner with eight other sweet ladies.

Out of My League?

I'm leaving for The Sewing Summit on Friday morning, and I am SO nervous. It doesn't help that I've been looking through all of the beautiful projects that The Sewing Summit attendees have made for the conference. Its hard to believe, but after years of sewing, I still have not made anything for myself. Well, technically I still have this brown and green quilt in my possession, but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it or gift it.

Here's to hoping that I can whip up a laptop sleeve, camera strap, a Coffee Burlap Tote Bag for myself, and perhaps a name tag (this is when I desperately wish that I could hand stitch...anyone want to teach me!?!), all before Thursday night. I also need to learn how to work my new DSLR camera, as I don't want to lug it to SLC and not use it (again, anyone willing to tutor me!?!).

The Sewing Summit!

I'm excited to announce that next Friday I'll be headed to Salt Lake City to attend The Sewing Summit, a modern sewing and blogging conference! I'm excited but also terrified, as I'm attending the conference solo.

I found out about the conference on Monday (I must live under a rock, as registration has been underway for months!), and after two days of deep thought I decided to take a plunge.  I'm not the most outgoing person (in fact I'm terribly shy!), but I feel the need to attend, to spend time out of my comfort zone, and to make the most out of the time I'm surrounded by wonderfully creative souls.  It's about time I push myself, and I think that The Sewing Summit is the perfect venue!  :)

The banquet hall was decorated in pink and orange (my favorite color!). The tables were adorned with beautiful flowers, and each centerpiece had a BIG fun balloon.

Each place setting was adorned with a mini sprinkled donut. I'm absolutely in love with anything mini! :)

The evening was broken up into three sessions, which we had all pre-registered for. I was stoked to have the opportunity to participate in the following sessions:

1- Laura Wiertzema's 'Cultivating Your Own Personal Style' (Fashion, Design, Style, Life and the art of capturing it all)

2- Sarah Markley's 'Carving Out Your Space' (Finding your unique niche in blogging while connecting with your readers)

3- Gussy's 'The Art of Growing A Business' (Utilizing Social Media to take your business to the next level)

Before, during, and after the sessions the dessert bar was open. They had SO many treats to choose from! Here are just a few...

Last but not least, here's a photo of Gussy and I. When Kara and I arrived we set our purses down on chairs, and unbeknown to us, Gussy had also set her bag down on a chair at our table. It was such a pleasure to be able to chat with her over dinner!

The Day Has Come!

I'm getting ready to leave for Blog Sugar in a couple hours and I am SO nervous! Well technically I'm nervous, excited, scared, antsy, stressed...sounds like fun, doesn't it!?! I've had much anxiety leading up to today, as I'm a bit socially awkward (the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem- right?). I'm inherently super shy and quiet, until I get to know someone and open up, thus these types of events are always out of my comfort zone! Thankfully my sweet friend Kara and I are carpooling to the event, which means I won't be the girl standing alone in the corner! :)

Tomorrow I'll post a recap of the event, as I know it will be spectacular!

Fabric Organization...

I don't know how it happened, but I have officially become a fabric hoarder. I have such hard time passing up a beautiful piece of fabric, and after I bring it home it seems as though I can never justify using the beautiful piece of fabric because then it would be GONE. Its really an evil cycle as my fabric armoire ends up looking like this...

Please tell me that I'm not the only one that hoards fabric...its just what happens when you love to sew, right!?! Okay, enough about hoarding, as I don't want to end up on TLC's hoarding documentaries any time soon! :)

If you're willing to share, how do you store your fabric? I've been thinking about purchasing some of these fabric organizers. Does anyone use them? Have they proved to be a good investment?

I Remember...

I'll be honest...I've sat down a couple of times to write this post and never thought my words were worthy.

Do I remember where I was when I got the news? Of course I do, and I doubt I will ever forget. I was at home getting ready for my belated birthday celebration trip to Catalina Island. We had reservations on the early ferry, so I was up before the sun, when my momma called from work, and told me to turn on the tv. The live images were almost too much to watch, yet I couldn't stand the thought of turning off the tv. I remember the instant ache in my heart, and then came the realization that the world was changing before me, that the world I grew up in was no more.

On this day, and everyday, my heart goes out to the survivors, to those that lost loved ones, and to the men and women that have been on (and are on) the front lines. May America continue to stay strong and be "one nation under God".

Busy Quilting Weekend!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful and productive Labor Day weekend! I'm excited to be able to share two quilts that I finished over the long weekend. The first quilt is this and this wedding quilt, for my sweet college friend. Their wedding is on the 17th, and I am SO proud of myself that the quilt is done, as it is totally like me to procrastinate until the eleventh hour! I keep looking at the quilt, and think that the bottom right gray rectangle needs some sort of personalization...I still have some time to play around- right? :)

The second quilt I was able to bind and finish up is this brown and green quilt, from my very first quilting class, circa February 2009. My Grandma B made aprons for my mom, aunt, sister, and I for Christmas 2008, and a couple days after Christmas we all found ourselves at a local quilt shop. One thing lead to another, I bought my very own sewing machine, and February 2009 my mom, sister, and I enrolled in our first quilting class. I love the colors of this quilt, and I am stoked to have finally finished it! :)

Random Acts of Kindness

Have you ever been the recipient of a random act of kindness? I was working at the local quilt shop (have I mentioned that I've been picking up hours at the shop?) on Monday, when sweet Kaye arrived to pick up the sample quilts that she had made. We got to talking about life, family, and work...I have to say that I wish I had more time to chat, as I really enjoyed her company!

Small detour...back to the quilt. I was helping her gather her quilts, and mentioned that I loved her Paula Prass (Woodland Delight) quilt, when she handed it to me and told me it was mine. It may seem silly, but I was almost in tears. I've been gifted quilts before (thanks grandma!), but never as an act of kindness from a stranger. I know how much time and money quilts take, and on the spur of the moment she made my week. I don't know if Kaye reads my blog, but if you do...thank you again! :)

Are you ready for one more act of kindness? One of the sweet quilters at the local quilt shop (its such a small world, I actually graduated high school with her daughter!) offered to teach me how to quilt...on her longarm. Its always been something I've been interested in, but have been terrified at the thought of possibly ruining a quilt...you know what I mean? I'll let you know how it goes after my first lesson. Let's just say that I picked up three quilt kits or so from the local quilt shop, so hopefully I'll be ready to learn in no time! :)

The Quilted Fish's Summer Camp Reveal + Giveaway!

I'm SO excited to reveal my Glamp with my blog friends! I opted for a burlap Glamp...does that surprise anyone? :)

I absolutely LOVE how it turned out. I had envisioned a fun shabby chic meets fleur de lis, meets burlap and I think I hit it head on!

The white ruffle was purchased at my local quilt shop. Yep, you read it right...purchased! The ruffle is a new Michael Miller trim, and totally worth the (minimal) price, as it saved me a ton of time.

The fleur de lis was stenciled onto the burlap, and was such an easy little art project. I picked up Freezer Paper from Wal-Mart (only place I was able to find it!), amongst the zip-loc bags. I cut out a Freezer Paper stencil with my Cricut, ironed the stencil onto my burlap (plastic side down), and then painted away!

To save some un-needed heart ache, don't forget to place a sheet of wax paper under the burlap (where the stencil is), as the burlap is not a solid surface and paint will leak onto whatever you're painting on!

Now onto the Summer Camp Giveaway! My sweet friend Amanda, of The Quilted Fish, is generously allowing me to giveaway Sugar and Spice fat quarters! :) As shown below, Sugar and Spice comes in three gorgeous colorways (pink/green, red/white, and blue/red).

Keeping It Real

I've really been thinking about what I want my blog to be, and who I want it to inspire. For the most part I try my best to keep the content upbeat and inspirational, but sometimes I just need to keep it real, which brings me to today.

For the past couple of weeks I have been struggling with motivation, specifically lack there of! I don't have motivation to blog, very little to sew, not wanting to take the time to sit down and work through additional pattern ideas, and the list goes on. I find myself glued to my computer (reading other people's blogs!), as well as the Food Network (I don't cook, but love watching others create yummy dishes!), instead of doing anything constructive. I anticipate that this funk (totally borrowed the word from my sweet friend Amanda!) is just a phase, as life within the past year has been nothing I've wanted for myself. I'm coming up on the last final transition, which technically sets me free, yet gives me great concern for the future. I'm also coming up on a birthday, which adds stress to my life situation, and all I want at this time in my life is to be wanted, both in my personal life as well as my professional life.

Deep down inside I know that God has a great plan for my life. Yet sometimes I question it, as I don't think I'm strong enough to deal with everything that has been thrown my way, and that makes me sad. He knows what He's doing, thus who am I to question his timing and his ways?

Looks as though I kind of got off on a tangent, but if you have any motivation tricks/ideas/ways, I'd love for you to share them in the comment section, as frankly I'm desperate!

One lat thing before I sign off...I want to share my new ringtone. Not like my phone rings frequently, but when it does, I enjoy hearing that "this has gotta be the good life". It always reminds me that I have to take initiative to make this the "good life".

GO! Baby Tutorial: Scattered Flowers Baby Quilt

I'm so excited to debut my FIRST Quilt Tutorial- woo hoo! The sweet folks at AccuQuilt sent me a GO! Baby Fabric Cutter, along with three GO! dies (I had such a hard time choosing, and am so happy with my decision to select the diamonds, circles, and strips).

I really can't say enough nice things about my experience with the GO! Baby, as I found the cuts to be precise, super fast, and safe! I've never been a fan of the cutting phase of quilts, thus using the GO! Baby to reduce the time I spend at my cutting table is time I can spend doing other things that make me happy! :)

Today's Scattered Flowers Baby Quilt Tutorial will feature AccuQuilt's Circle and 2.5" Strip die...I hope you love the quilt as much as I do! :)

(Finished quilt measures approximately 36" x 36")

Materials:

Coordinating Fabrics for Stripes (7 total): 1/3 yard each
Backing: 1 1/8 yard (I used the same fabric for the Backing and one of the Stripes. If you choose to go the same route, you will need 1 1/2 yards for Backing/Stripe and 6 Coordinating Fabrics for the Stripes.)
Quilt Batting: 1 1/8 yard
Large Ric Rac (11/16"): 5/8 yard each (5 colors to coordinate with Strip Fabrics)
Heat n' Bond Lite (Sewable)
Fray Check

1. From the seven Stripe Fabrics, cut an assortment of strips (varying in widths x +/- 37" in long). Note, when cutting the strips, fold the fabric in half as shown below, and cut at +/- 18.5".

The large piece will be used for the stripes and the binding, the remaining rectangle +/- 5.5" x 12" will be used for the circles. I cut my strips as follows:

     #1= 2"           #6= 2.5"        #11= 3.75"      #16= 2.25"
     #2= 4.25"       #7= 2"           #12= 3"          #17" 1.75"
     #3= 1.5"         #8= 1.5"        #13= 2.5"       #18= 4"
     #4= 2.25"       #9= 4"           #14= 1.75"
     #5= 1.5"        #10= 2.5"      #15= 2"

2. After cutting the stripes, use the remaining fabric and cut five 2.5" strips of fabric for the binding. I used the GO! Baby 2.5" Strip Cutter die to cut my binding, and it was SO quick!

3. Roll five of the leftover stripe fabrics, designated for the circles (see photo from step #1), through the GO! Baby Fabric Cutter, using the Circle die (2", 3", and 5").

4. Roll the Heat n' Bond Lite (sewable) through the GO! Baby Fabric Cutter, using the Circle die. Per the Heat n' Bond directions, adhere the Heat n' Bond to the wrong side of the small and medium circles. Set the large circles aside.

5. Layout the stripes as desired, and with a 1/4" seam allowance sew the stripes, right sides together. Press the seams towards the darker fabric.

6. Sandwich the quilt batting between the wrong sides of the quilt top and backing. Quilt as desired. (I used a large zig zag stitch, every third row).

7. Place the circles (small and medium) on the quilt, as desired. Remove the Heat n' Bond backing from each circle, and iron in place. Appliqué circles as desired. (I used a zig zag stitch around each circle).

8. For the large circles, pin the large ric rac around the circle. Trim the ric rac and Fray Check both cut ends. On the wrong side of the fabric, center and iron on the Heat n' Bond (carefully, making sure to not melt the ric rac!). Remove pins and repeat with remaining large circles.

9. With the large circles, repeat step #7.

10. Square up the quit, as needed.

11. For the binding, piece the 5 strips by placing the fabric right sides together, perpendicular to each other, and sew across the two strips at a 45 degree angle. Trim excess fabric at 1/4" and press seam open.

12. With wrong sides together, press the binding in half. With a 3/8" seam allowance, sew the raw edge of the binding to the quilt top, leaving a +/- 6" tail from the start of the binding. When approaching the corners, make sure to stop 1/4” from the corner, lift your needle and presser foot and fold the binding up onto itself. Fold the binding down again, aligning the raw edges and resume stitching.

13. When approaching the start of the binding, with right sides together, stitch the end of the binding to the tail of the binding (from Step #11). Finish sewing the raw edge of the binding to the quilt top.

14. Fold over the binding to the back of the quilt and hand or machine stitch the binding in place, making sure to neatly miter the corners.

I'm loving the stitching details on the back of the quilt!

Sneak Peek at Wednesday's Tutorial!

Oooh, I'm so excited to show you guys a sneak peek at my first quilt tutorial, which will be posted on Wednesday! The quilt is made from Riley Blake's Alphabet Soup Girl (which is darling!). Have I mentioned my love of gray and turquoise? :)

I'll also be adding a handful of ric rac to the baby quilt. I went shopping today solely for ric rac, and came home with the following. I personally think everything is BETTER with a bit of ric rac? Does anyone share the same belief? :)

will be opening in Rancho Cucamonga, come October. Say what!?! This news made my day! Granted I've only been to Hobby Lobby once, but from what I remember it was WAY better than Michael's and/or JoAnn's (I've never really been a fan of either store, but that's a topic for another day!).

Stuart's Day Job

I took a photo of Stuart on the job the other day. Most days he works hard protecting the house and giving me hugs, but at times he needs to check his puppy mail on the computer. :)

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Monday! I'm working for a couple of hours tomorrow (headed down to Oceanside, but sadly there won't be any time to visit the beach), and then I desperately need to come home and sew. I'm hoping that I find some sewing motivation between now and tomorrow afternoon! :)

Updates...Finally!

I've been a HORRIBLE blogger! :( Let's just pretend that I was away at Summer Camp- okay? :) In all honesty, life has been moving quickly, and thankfully in a positive direction. A couple of highlights from the past two weeks or so:

Took a quick road trip, with Stuart in tow. He doesn't exactly get along with his dog cousins, so its hard to find him a place to stay when I leave town. This time around our sweet family friends agreed to let Stuart visit. It was his first road trip and he did VERY well! :)

While out of town, I had an appointment scheduled with Strawberry Patches. Let me preface that Strawberry Patches is the premiere quilt shop in the San Joaquin Valley. In fact, Strawberry Patches was where I learned how to sew- so cool! I went into the meeting a tad bit nervous, as that's the norm (I'm a huge ball of nerves!). The meeting was SO successful! Patterns were ordered, samples were ordered, and a wonderful creative relationship was developed! My sweet friend Suzanne, the owner of Strawberry Patches, sums up the meeting much better than I ever could. Make sure to head on over to Notes From the Patch!
Some of my patterns and finished samples traveled with my friend to Gina, owner of Fresh Picked Fabrics, to the Project Linus chapter coordinator's meeting in Chicago!

Summer Camp by The Quilted Fish

Are you a fan of summer camp? I am, or perhaps should say was, as I frequented a local summer camp as a young child. Today I want to direct your attention to The Quilted Fish's Summer Camp, as she has some great festivities planned for all of the crafty campers!

Everyday Keepsakes

I love the days when my mailman showers the mailbox with gifts...today was one of those days! I want to introduce you to my sweet friend Meredith, of Everyday Keepsakes. Meredith is a stay-at-home-mom, turned graphic designer, turned jewelry maker. She has mastered the art of combining her graphic design skills, with her metal clay jewelry ideas, by designing her own stamps. How cool is that!?!

I absolutely love Meredith's work, and she likes my Coffee Burlap Tote Bags, so we did a little switch-a-roo! My Sewing Lovers Necklace arrived in today's mail, and I LOVE it! Weekend Recap!

Hello! I hope that everyone had a wonderful 4th of July weekend! Were you able to squeeze in any sewing/crafting time? On Saturday, I had some time to work on the wedding quilt. Here is a sneak peek at the first to rows of the quilt. For the most part the quilt is complete, except for the embroidery of the bride and groom's initials, plus wedding date! :)

On Sunday my sister and I headed to the local outlet mall for a little retail therapy! I have to say that it was SO nice to spend the afternoon together. We both lead busy lives (well, she does and I'm just a homebody), so although we live close together we don't normally spend the afternoon together. I picked up a cute dress for the upcoming wedding, and I think I turned my little sister onto Gap and Banana Republic. She doesn't quite have the same love for the two that I do, but I did what I could, with the time that I had! :)

Etsy Lovin'...The Word Shop

I've been meaning to share The Word Shop with you for sometime now, but I guess have never gotten around to it. I don't know about you, but I've been LOVING graphic prints lately. My oh my, there are some talented artists out there! :)

I especially love the Butcher Chart prints from The Word Shop...let me explain. With all of the school budget cuts, do they still have FFA in high school (side note- I sure hope so!)? Well folks, I was a very active FFA member, from my first day of high school until graduation! I raised two lambs and two pigs for market, as well as one dairy heifer...and loved every minute of it!

Long story short, the butcher charts are a throw back to my high school days, and what's not to love about having educational wall art in your kitchen? :)

Answered Prayers!

I'm learning that patience is key. I have to say that I've never been a very patient person. I've never really had to wait for much, and at times I think I equate patience with boredom as I'd rather be overloaded with work than sit idle. I've digressed a bit, but I hope you get where I'm coming from.

This past weekend was a BIG weekend for Squirmy Worm Studio. Friday was the one year anniversary of when I lost my job. It seems weird to equate an anniversary with unemployment, as its not oh so joyful, but it is what it is. I really can't believe its been a year. Sure I've enjoyed hours of Hoda and Kathie Lee (that one's for you Sherri!) and of course my afternoon indulgence of Let's Make A Deal (they give out some awesome prizes!), but I've really spent the majority of my time building my business. Friday afternoon as I was driving home from the local quilt shop I received an awesome email...a wholesale order for two of my patterns (Diaper Wristlet and Thread Catcher). Yep, that's right, my patterns are now for sale at Tall Mouse Crafts & Fabric! :) Definitely an answered prayer, AND exactly a year from when I was let go! God has a great plan for my life, and I'm more than happy to be on this ride!

A Quilt for a Special Bride and Groom!

I'm here to show you what I picked up at the local quilt shop! My good buddy, Casey, is getting married in September to his sweet fiance, Heather. (I'm using their real names because they don't follow my blog- ha!). :) I've thought long and hard about what I wanted to create for them, as I wanted to gift a very special and one-of-a-kind wedding gift. Both Casey and Heather are architects, so I wanted to go with a very modern quilt, but then again I know how much I procrastinate when I try something new...yadda, yadda, yadda! Long story short, I am going to make them a quilt like my sweet friend, Kara's quilt. The pattern is Threaded Pear Studio's Fantastic-O Fat Fun quilt pattern, which is fun and easy...definitely something I can complete before September (now that I'm working and all!!!). :)

My Momma and Dad came to see my trunk show display at the local quilt shop on Sunday (the last day of the Quilter's Run), so while they were there I enlisted their help in picking out 12 coordinating fat quarters. I found an already assembled quilt pattern at the shop, and started my fat quarter selection by taking bits and pieces out of the kit. I then added the additional fat quarters, as needed and came up with this...

The binding will be made out of the black fabric, and the backing will be the white/black/turquoise oval fabric. I also plan on adding a heart (via raw edge applique) to the front of the quilt with the bride and groom's initial, as well as their wedding date. I hope everything is completed in time, and that they will LOVE it!!! :) Have you received a special handmade gift for your wedding/birthday/special occasion?

Hello friends! It's Friday, which means its time for a new Sugar and Spice tutorial, and this week it is MY turn to share my new tutorial...a Perpetual Magnetic Calendar- woo hoo! Make sure to hop on over to The Quilted Fish's blog to check out the details.

Hello! I must confess that I haven't been a very good Creative Consultant Teammate, as I haven't posted the past two tutorials (shame on me!). With that, today is your lucky day if you're looking for awesome tutorials! :)

The first tutorial is by Jackie of Jackie's Art Quilts! Jackie so cleverly whipped up a 3-d fabric teacup and saucer! I had the chance to hold one of her teacups and saucers in person at Quilt Market, and they are so darn cute! I think they would make great party gifts and/or candy dishes! :)

The second tutorial is by Stephanie of Peas in a Pod! Stephanie created a wonderful (and kid-friendly) cookie sheet magnet board! If you don't sew, this tutorial is SO for you, as there is no sewing involved (make sure to stop by Stephanie's blog to thank her!). :)

SoCal Quilter's Run @ Fresh Picked Fabrics!

Hello! Sorry I've been so quiet this week. Its probably been one of the busiest weeks I've had all year as I'm consulting again, AND I've been preparing for my patterns and products to make their debut at the local quilt shop! Remember this post? Well, I'm here to happily announce that "the local quilt shop" is Fresh Picked Fabrics (3810 Prospect Avenue, Unit A, Yorba Linda, CA 92886)!!!

I think I've mentioned this before, but let me tell you...Fresh Picked Fabrics is my favorite local quilt shop. The fabric selection is wonderful, the shop is packed full of samples (which always gets my mind working in overdrive), and the staff is always helpful and cheery! One last thing...see that sweet Tote Bag, sitting on the table (between the Nursing Cocoon, and the finished Coffee Burlap Tote Bag + behind the red and green fabric)? Well, that is the Mini Burlap Tote Bag (measures 10" x 10", and 3.5" deep) which is a free bonus pattern that comes with the Burlap Tote Bag pattern...not too bad- eh?

Working From Home!

I'm working again!!! I received a phone call a week or so ago from the architecture firm that I've been consulting for (on an as need basis), and guess what...they have work for me (again)! I went into the office yesterday (for the first time since December!) to get my computer set up and get acquainted with the work I'll be doing. I have to say it was a long day, and so weird to be in an office! :) Good news is the gig is very flexible and it looks like I'll be in the office two days a week and working from home the remaining days.

Speaking of working from home, I've found that my ironing board makes a great make-shift desk! :) I'm 'borrowing' my Dad's tall stool, I have my Diet Coke, Pandora is blaring, and I'm all good! :)

I better get back to my 9 to 5 To-Do List! I just wanted to say hello and share the good news. I'm taking a late lunch today to pick up some more burlap coffee bags from the roastery, which is always exciting as I never know what the bags will look like! Also, don't forget...this Thursday - Sunday I'll be at Fresh Picked Fabrics selling my sewing patterns, as well as finished Coffee Burlap Tote Bags, Thread Catchers, Diaper Wristlets, and Nursing Cocoons. Blooming Possibilities- The Clutch by Abbey Lane Quilts

So, last weekend my Momma and I both spent some time sewing- woo hoo! While at Quilt Market, my Momma picked up Blooming Possibilities by Abbey Lane Quilts. The book contains instructions for 12 patterns...everything from purses/clutches to flip flops and wall art! :)

This is my Momma's Clutch! Didn't she do a good job!?! The main body fabric is Toni, by Windham Fabrics. The strap is Rainy Days and Mondays by Riley Blake, and the inside lining/flower is made up of Summertime, by Henry Glass Co.

Now for my review of the pattern... Let's just say that we got through the first fifteen steps, and while attempting step number sixteen, we decided that our best bet was to rip out all that we had done and start over (with our own pattern modifications!). My Momma was crushed, but at least we were able to salvage all of the fabric.

If you plan on making a Clutch of your own, I would suggest adding interfacing (12.5" x 17.5") to the mix, as it holds the pleats in place. I would also suggest cutting the Peltex larger (12.5" x 16.5"), than the pattern calls for, as its only my opinion, but I think that the Peltex HAS to be caught in the seams in order for the corners to box properly. As for the lining, I hate when the lining gets all bunchy when its not cut to the correct size, thus I'd suggest that the lining be turned under 1" (that or just cut 1" shorter than what the pattern calls for- your choice!). One more...as for the magnets, in hindsight I would add the after the band is stitched in place. I questioned this part of the pattern when first reading over the directions, and should have gone with my gut. If the magnets are inserted before the band is sewn on, they get in the way when you're trying to top stitch the band. Just a few modifications to make your sewing experience a little less frustrating than ours!

I have to say its been one of THOSE days...

I went to bed a bit late last night, and just as I was falling asleep realized that I really NEEDED to wash a load of whites, as I anticipated going into the office in the morning and frankly had nothing to wear. With that, I got up early, tossed a load in the wash, went back to bed for a bit, then tossed the load into the dryer and got in the shower to get ready to go into work (the architecture firm that I've done some work for in the past has additional consulting work for me to do- score!). Called into the office at 9am (after I was dressed and had straightened my hair!) to see what time I was wanted, when I found out that they really weren't ready for me to come in today, so it was rescheduled for Monday morning. It wasn't that big of a deal, but I DID straighten my hair for the occasion, and that takes some time! :)

Since 9am or so I've been spot cleaning the carpet in the dining room, hallway, and my sewing studio as we'll just say that my Momma's lab had an upset stomach last night- ugh! So disgusting! My Momma did what she could before she left the house for work, but since I'm home (and kind of want to sew), I've taken over the cleaning duties. Let's just say, the lab might turn into an outside dog for the next couple of days.

Okay, so that brings me to 1pm or so...the mail came and unfortunately my new (and desperately needed) sewing tags did not appear. I'm optimistic that they'll show up sometime this week, and until they do I'm holding out on finishing up a handful of Coffee Burlap Tote Bags, as I'm fresh out of sewing tags (and really am over making them by hand!). I did however get two boxes of business cards from Vista Print, which came MUCH faster than anticipated. The last time I ordered business cards was from Overnight Prints, and I have to say that I think their quality is much better than Vista Print...lesson learned.

Tired of me complaining yet? Hehehehe Well, that's all I really have to share for now. I'm off to work on my next tutorial for The Quilted Fish's blog, as I'm up on June 24th, and currently have nothing to show for myself! I hope everyone has a great {and uneventful} Wednesday! :)

Thread Catcher by Suzee!

It took me a while, but I have/had a genius idea (of course that's my humble opinion!)...why not post photos of completed Thread Catchers (or any other item made from one of my patterns!), sewn up by my sweet customers? I absolutely LOVE receiving photos from my customers, as I always think its such a sweet compliment.

So, without further ado...my sweet friend, Suzee, of AppleHead Threads {you might remember her name from this post} sent me a photo of her Thread Catcher (AND with the leftover fabric, she made her Momma a gift card/credit card wallet)! It looks wonderful and I'm so thankful to have this opportunity to share her photo!

Sunday Snapshots!

We had a couple of canine visitors (my sister's pups) over the weekend, and let me tell you, out of all of the rooms in the house, the sewing studio was THE place to be. My Momma and I started the trend by spending the afternoon sewing. She worked on a cute clutch (photos and pattern review to follow later this week), and I was busy sewing up a couple of Diaper Pods.

Rocky, Stuart, and Maggie...it looks like we were conducting a doggie lineup (in the smallest room in the house!!!)!

Oh, and just in case you noticed the Raggedy Ann and Andy towel in the background...that's what I use for my wet towel when adhering fusible interfacing. :)

While the lineup was in progress, sweet Miss Sophie decided that she'd rather snuggle with my sewing chair.

Mug Rug Tutorial!

Happy Friday, friends! I hope everyone is having a wonderful day! I'm so excited to announce that the Brooke of Silly Mama Quilts (Blog and Etsy shop), is kicking off the second round of tutorials for The Quilted Fish. This round of tutorials will all be made from Amanda's Sugar and Spice fabric (which I LOVE!!!).

Okay, first up is Brooke's Mug Rug tutorial! If by chance you were at Quilt Market and stopped by The Quilted Fish's booth, these sweet Mug Rugs were displayed on the blue table, as part of the Mad Hatter Tea Party decor! In my opinion, the Mug Rugs are so sweet and such a fun addition to your morning coffee/tea time (or MY Diet Coke time!). They are also a great project to practice your quilt binding techniques, and can totally be completed in an hour or two!

I first got behind a sewing machine in fourth grade. My mom enrolled my sister and I in after school sewing lessons, at the local quilt shop. Every week we would show up with our sewing basket stock full of supplies, and pattern in hand. My mom would leave and the teacher, sweet and ever so patient Mrs. Dietz (sp?) would take over. My wardrobe was full of handmade reversible vests (they were in style- I swear), one-piece pant jump suits, and way too many sunflower printed garments (I wish I had a picture to share with all!).

You may wonder where I'm going with this walk down memory lane. Well, with all of my free time (aka, 11 months of unemployment!), on occasion I still wonder what I want to be when I grow up. I know, I know, I'm 28, with a college degree, and frankly I should already know who I am, and what I'll be doing for the rest of my life, but life happens and interests change.

Lately opening an after school sewing studio for children is on my list of what I want to do. Having the ability to inspire young girls to be the next generation of quilters and seamstresses would be such an honor! Opening a brick and mortar quilt shop is always something that's in the back of my head. In addition, the possibility of being a fabric sales rep has been brought to my attention by my sweet mentor. Who know what God's plan for my life looks like. As of now I'm just waiting patiently and trying to make the most out of my free time, as I know when I go back to work my creative time will diminish.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Do you ever get so busy/stressed that you just shut down? That's where I'm at today. I have an overflowing 'To-Do List', which involves a lot of sewing, pattern refinement, and decision making. I want everything that I produce and/or has my name on it to be perfect, although I know that its an impossible feat as I'm an imperfect person, living in an imperfect world- plain and simple.

That's all I have for tonight...I just wanted to get it off my chest. A new day is just around the corner (2 hours and counting).

Oh, and because posts without a picture are a tad bit boring...even on a bad day (maybe especially on a bad day) this little guy makes me smile from ear to ear! :)

Sewing Pattern Cover Photo Shoot

I hope that everyone had a great Memorial Day! I got up extra early this morning to meet up with my sweet friend Christa, of Jae Photography, for a photo shoot. I spent all day Sunday (and some of early Monday morning!) sewing up product samples for the photo shoot. I know its not exactly the same, but I think I felt some of the same pressure that the designers on Project Runway feel before their deadlines! :)

Okay, back to the photo shoot details. The Thread Catcher, Diaper Pod, Coffee Burlap Tote Bag, and Nursing Cocoons were photographed for my sewing patterns (which I hope to make their debut no later than this weekend in the local quilt shop!). {Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, I WILL announce the name and location of the quilt shop after I'm all set up, and I'll probably provide a few too many photos for your viewing pleasure!}

Quilt Market- Sewing Studio Furniture!

If you've been following my blog for sometime, you know that I've always dreamed of an awesome sewing studio! I started sewing on my kitchen table, and then moved onto a folding banquet table- ugh! :) I've had my eye on the Olivia sewing desk from Arrow Sewing Cabinets for quite sometime, but never made the purchase...that is until I spotted their booth at Quilt Market!

I'm ecstatic to report that six (6!) boxes of sewing furniture arrived on Tuesday. I may or may not have jumped up to look at the window every time I heard a large truck drive by! After waiting {patiently} all day, Mr. FedEx arrived at 5:20 PM! Long story short, my Momma and I started to put the Pixie Cutting Table together, but jumped at the chance of having a family friend, Carlos, assist with the construction. Carlos came over this morning and assembled everything for me. I have to say I am SO grateful for such sweet friends, I am truly blessed! :)

Okay, now on to the photos (since I know that's why you're really here!). ;)

My new sewing desk! I also ordered an acrylic insert for the desk so that I have an even sewing desk (I hope that makes sense!). I used to sew with my back to the window, but was tired of not being able to see because of the shadows, etc.

It looks a bit lonely in the corner...I might have to go shopping for some wall art! :)

I moved the white cubby storage unit to the wall where my sewing machine had been. Oh, and that collection of Thread Catchers will be headed to the local quilt shop next week. :)

For those that are wondering, I still have the sewing desk that my grandma gave to me. I haven't yet refinished the desk, although my Dad and I stripped a bit of the finish. I'm not sure when, but one day the sewing desk that my grandpa bought for my grandma will be in my sewing studio, as I'd love to use it for my serger. :)

Quilt Market- Schoolhouse with The Quilted Fish

My Momma and I arrived in Salt Lake City Thursday afternoon, just in time for The Quilted Fish's Schoolhouse presentation. Per the Quilt Market catalog, the International Quilt Market’s popular Schoolhouse Series is an exciting, information-filled forum for manufacturers, publishers, and retailers to present new products, techniques, and books to you.

Amanda spent her time at Schoolhouse presenting the Creative Consultant's free tutorials, which are all available on her blog. This was also where she debuted her new patterns- so exciting!!!

This is Amanda showcasing the new Glamp pattern and We're All Mad Here, which can be worn as a hat or made as a pincushion! :)

As shown in this photo, the pattern also comes with instructions and templates for a shower curtain and buckets...a great way to use your laminate fabric!

As part of the presentation, Amanda handed out Make It and Take It envelopes that had the artwork for the teapot and teacup/spoon hoop art! Such a great project to use up some of your scraps, that and embroidery hoop art is all of the rage right now! :)

The Schoolhouse session was ended by passing out cupcakes to all of the students. Both Amanda, and the cupcakes were a BIG hit! :)

Quilt Market- Riley Blake 80's Party

Saturday night, Riley Blake hosted an 80's party at The Depot in Salt Lake City. I'm not one that enjoys dressing up in costume, yet I think that this photo might be my favorite from the entire trip! :)

Kayce won the won the Women's Best Dressed Costume contest. I think that her worm moves across the dance floor (she's a hoot!) gave her the winning advantage. :)

I know that you're all LOVING my dress...hehehe! I found it at the Goodwill for $15 and really do think that it was from the 80's as the elastic in the sleeves was rotted out, so after a couple of hours with my seam ripper (seriously!) and new elastic, the sleeves were like brand new. I hope to never have to wear this dress again, but I am keeping it in my closet, just in case I get invited to another 80's party! :)

Quilt Market- Booths and Designer Sightings!

I'm home from Quilt Market! I was sad to leave my sweet friend Amanda, and hated saying good-bye to Julie and Sally, but happy to get home...you know the feeling, right? I pick up my little Stuart tomorrow morning, and I can't wait until we're reunited. I NEVER thought that I could love a little pup as much I love Stuart. Okay, enough sappy love talk for now. I know that you're all here to check out the cute booths at market!

First up is Riley Blake's award winning booth- oh yeah!!!

The booth displayed each line of fabric, with ample samples/project ideas!

Sugar and Spice, by The Quilted Fish. How cute are the skirts, quilts, pillows, etc.!?!

The Riley Blake booth also displayed the awesome beach cruiser bike that they are giving away. Make sure to check out the details here.

They also displayed both of the All Dolled Up quilts. Riley Blake handed out brochures in line at the Sample Spree and if Quilt Market attendees took the brochure around to get a stamp at all of the 30 participating Utah designer's booths, they would be entered to win both quilts, PLUS each designer is/was giving away a prize, which means there were 32 chances of winning!

Quilt Story, a pattern company owned by sisters Heather and Megan. This was their first Quilt Market, and I just loved the simplicity and timelessness of their booth!

The Threaded Pear, by Gina Halladay. Gina is the owner of my favorite local quilt shop, Fresh Picked Fabrics. She is such a joy to hang out with! :)

Birch Fabrics- 100 % Organic Cotton Fabric

Avalon, by Jay-Cyn Designs. Bicycles are so in right now, and I think that Jay-Cyn Designs (Birch Fabrics) did such a wonderful job!

Sandi Henderson's booth was gorgeous! The colors were beautiful, yet not overwhelming, and not one thing was out of place. My Momma and I had the opportunity to chat with Sandi and her husband, Dustin, and I have to say that they are so sweet and so very genuine. It was such a pleasure!

Pick a Bunch, by Nancy Mims of Robert Kaufman Fabrics. I picked up a Roll-Up of the Pick a Bunch fabric at the Sample Spree and I have to say that I am in LOVE with the 100% organic cotton fabric. I actually sat down with a Robert Kaufman rep to talk about buying the line to put in my Etsy shop. If you know me in real life, you know that I have such a hard time spending money, as I tend to have buyer's remorse over a pack of gum, thus I haven't ordered any bolts of fabric, but perhaps it will be something I commit to in the near future.

I wanted to move into Joel Dewberry's booth...that or at least take the chairs home with me! His new patterns and fabrics are beautiful. I'm not much of a purple person, but I love plum so I'm sold, that and orange + teal is genius! My Momma and I had the opportunity to talk with Joel and his wife, Laurie, and they are SO cute! I will definitely be purchasing some of his fabric!!! :)

Amy Butler's booth was so fresh and clean! I have to admit that I caught a glimpse of her on Thursday during setup and I was SO starstruck. I took me a couple of days to get up the courage to ask to take a photo with her. I have to say that she was so very sweet and genuine. She wanted to know about my business, and my patterns, and when I would be have my own booth at Quilt Market...hehehehe! :)
